Special Haven Beerfest 2015
By: David Chuey

On Saturday, May 9th, 2015 I had a Special Needs baseball game to coach in the morning and things went great.  After the game, I had to rush home and get my car loaded and make my way over to E.J. Phair Brewery and just about 10 min into the drive I got a call stating that Highway 4 was backed up for some reason.  There is always something, some sort of obstacle, when putting on an event and it looks like today wouldn’t be any different.  I was still able to get to E.J. Phair in good time and with the help of several board members and several associates from our sponsor Rina Accountancy Corporation we were able to get everything set up before the first guests arrived.

E.J. Phair was a new venue for us this year so we didn’t know what to expect, but as always the event was very successful.  There were over 25 different types of  beer at the event from these very generous beer companies; E.J. Phair Brewing, Schooner's, Sierra Nevada, Lost Coast Brewing, Highwater Brewing, Working Man Brewing, Linden Street Brewery, Thirsty Bear, Heretic Brewing, Schubros Brewing, Black Diamond Brewing, Samual Adams, Pacific Coast Brewing, Speakeasy Ales and Lagers, Mendocino Brewing and a host of beers from Artisanal Imports.  We also hosted our 2nd Annual Home Brew Contest and the winner this year was Fred Nelson with his Citra Pale Ale.  Congratulations Fred!

The event was extremely successful again thanks our amazing sponsor, RINA Accountancy Corporation.  Thank you again, Rina, for supporting the event this year.  We raised over $2500 at this event.  Because we were at a new venue, in a different city, we were unsure of what to expect, but E.J. Phair was great and the staff, especially Erika Vigil was awesome and they helped make everything run very smoothly.  We are looking forward to our event next year and we hope you will join us!
